After re-installing Windows Vista, I was unable to see my Bluetooth device in my XPS 1330 Laptop. None of the devices left unidentified when I checked the device manager. I can’t also see any options in the control panel to configure the device.
When I tried re-installing the Bluetooth driver, it said Turn the Turn on the Bluetooth device by pressing Fn+F2 key or using the radio button on the laptop. I wasn’t lucky with their instructions as none of these options turned on the Bluetooth device.
I immediately contacted the support person and he suggested to download and install “Patch for Dell Wireless 355 Bluetooth Module (Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR)” from http://support.dell.com/. Viola, it worked fine. He said it’s because of some hardware/driver conflicts with wireless device and Bluetooth device.
Make sure of following things before download
1. You will not be able to find this patch under the Driver downloads for Dell XPS 1330.
2. You will have to navigate to “Driver Downloads->Notebooks->Inspiron->Model 6400 and choose operating system as “Windows XP” even you’re running Windows Vista
3. Download and apply patch. Ensure that you’re downloading the patch, not the driver. It’s only 153KB in size (when I downloaded)
4. The given link above is valid when I posted this, so please properly navigate and install the patch. If you’ve any further confusions call Dell support center
5. Do this at your own risk. Don’t blame me if something went wrong. So far this patch worked fine for me.

Does this work with Dell Wireless 370 Bluetooth Module on Studio 1535? Thanks.
Worked fine on my DELL Precision M6400 Covet under Win7 64 RTM. After upgrading from Vista the bluetooth device was not found – until this great hint!
I have a Dell Inspiron 1520. I just upgraded to Windows 7 Professional 32-bit. I have run this patch, which opens and closes a command window (so quick i cannot see anything). Then when I try to run the Bluetooth Driver install it still has the warning dialog with Fn + F2. Anyone have any ideas?
hi,
Thanks for your suggestion. It worked perfectly!
it worked on my e4200 with windows 7. Thanks.
thanks a lot sir .
worked well on DELL INSPIRON 1525 WITH WINDOWS 7
THANK YOU!!! that patch worked. i installed win 7 and the bluetooth software said to turn on with fn+f2 or the switch. non worked. windows didnt see it either. that patch turned it on instantly and installed itself.
Brilliant! Absolutely brilliant. Thank you so so so much!
Thanks for the patch! It works on XPS 1530 with Win7 but the Bluetooth is always on, it can't be turned off.
Can't you use the wireless switch to turn it off. the way it should behave on on/off can be configured in your BIOS settings. Be careful while editing it.
Wow, thanx men! I have spent a lot of time, trying to repair it on my dell studio 1535!
Regards!
damn its workin for my inspiron 1420.. thanks alot
Please check Dell’s website for the 64-bit version of this driver.
Hi,
I am also running Windows 7 in my machine. But I hadn’t installed any separate drivers other than the Microsoft provided one. uninstall your blue tooth device, connect to internet and let Windows find the best driver for you. If it doesn’t work, try to get the drivers from Dell Website.
