A Cool Test With Firefox 2 Beta 1

Yesterday I have downloaded Firefox 2 Beta 1 and installed in my machine. While installation, I didn’t choose the default folder for installation i.e C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox Beta 1. I installed over my previous installation of Firefox 1.5

When I launched newly installed foxy 2 (beta 1), I really get desperated because my favorite plugins and themes are not working and get disabled. Anyway I really enjoyed the new tab sidebar feature of fireofx (it’s simply like IE 7. hooo… finally firefox copied a stunning feature introduced by IE.. really my claps goes to IE for such a nice and flexible feature.).

After enjoying foxy 2 beta have tried a re-installation with my old version of Firefox. Actually I was really sad in missing that tab preview feature, anyway my favorite plugins are valuable for me than this new feature. but when I opened the newly installed firefox(old version), still the tab sidebar was there. Suddenly I checked whether my installation is correct or not… yes. it was showing firefox 1.5.0.1 as it’s version number. Now I have one of the new features of firefox 2 beta 1 and also my foxy is stable enough . thanx firefox such a mistake in your installation.

Well, if you are really looking for a tab preview solution, there are some available as extensions for 1.5
And if you worrying why the extensions and themes do not work with FF 2.0 this is because, every extension has a section in its code, telling it which versions of FF it should work with, and the extensions you have previously downloaded and insalled have only FF 0.9 to 1.5 listed in that section of their codes. Hopefully, these extensions will be updated soon, to work with FF 2.0 (In many cases, the author of the extension does not need to change the code to let it work with 2.0, except for modifying that section of code I stated above, to let it "understand" FF 2.0)
